Digital devices such as computers, mobile phones, tablets, laptops, hard drives, USB sticks and memory cards hold vast amounts of data. Some of this data can prove critical when it comes to investigations. Obtaining this data requires specialist knowledge, tools and techniques. All data extracted then has to be interoperated, understood and presented to an evidential standard, admissible in court.

Forensic FAQ’s

How do I know if my device contains critical data?

Unlike our competitors, we offer a Triage service. We can take a quick look at your device and establish is there is any case relevant data contained. This avoids the outlay of the cost of a full investigation, with the potential to come out empty handed. This also speeds up the time you get your devices back.

Where are my devices kept when in your possession?

All devices are kept in our secure forensic store room. The store is alarmed and accesses with a smart card. Any devices that have the ability to send or receive communications are kept inside a Faraday bag. A strict chain of custody is maintained.

I’ve seized a load of devices, some of which look old and broken. How do I know which ones to get analysed?

A quick phone call to us will help you establish what devices may contain data and would be worth bringing to us. We also offer education training to teams of staff on what types of devices contain data, where the data is, how it could be hidden, how to safely and correctly ‘bag & tag’.
